Marketing versus Eagerness to Serve

We asked Baba ji about if he wanted us to start promoting the Sukhmani Explanation book through advertising, newspapers, Gurdwaras, running workshops and camps etc?  Baba ji explained to us that if we chose to reach 100,000 people it would overwhelm the small sangat we have currently have.  Firstly, it would drain all of our finances to reach that many people and secondly, we would not be able to give the quality time to each person that they needed to get through their life struggles.  Plus, we have to understand that the majority of people who would come would fall away soon after, because they are not Truth-seekers but only desiring for their wants to be fulfilled, or pains to be eased – once they get what they want (and they do get what they want because “chaar padarath je ko mangay, sadh janaa kee seva lagay- if you want the four gifts, then serve the Sant – Sukhmani”, they go back to Maya’s comforts. (This has happened in Baba ji’s past sangats, even in UK sangat many have come and gone). 

So Baba ji explained the divine way to reach others is not to chase after them (that is Maya’s way), but to firstly remember that everyone is following their fate as per their desinty (“sanjog vijog dhoi kaar chalaavay, lekhay avay bhaag- union and separation run us as per His Will.  We only receive what is written in our destiny” – Guru Nanak ji.)  So that means that only the ones who are destined to receive it will come to the website anyway.  And even if 100,000 people visit the website in a year, but only 100 become firm in their faith in Naam, then that is great blessing for all.  So just let God do as He pleases and just watch and wait with patience. Just have the eagerness to serve, then God takes care of the rest. [Later in the week we went to collect sangat from the airport, we said to Baba ji that we persoanlly should stay at home becaasue there maynot be enough seats for sangat coming back.  Baba ji said, “we just need eagerness to serve and trust SatNaam takes care of the rest.”  When we got to the airport, we collected Dassan Dass ji and he said that another devotee S ji was coming too, and we heard another one was also arriving.  Now we defintely knew there wasn;t going to be enough space for everyone.  But, then Dassan dass ji said that S ji was bringing his own car!!  So now there was plenty of room!”  - Moral of the story: always trust what the Sant says!  They already know the big picture.]
