Body, Deeds and Naam

Baba ji said, “don’t spend too much time on the body doing weights, yoga and running and pamering it as SPAs or at home etc.  Remember the body is going to be left behind here and hence the excessive time you spent on it is wasted.  All you need for the body is a 2 Km speedwalk everday and some stretching.”  That’s what Baba ji does every morning.  “And even that,” he said, “he only does for others, so that his body is maintained and can be used to serve others.”

Baba ji said, “spend lesss time on the body and more time on doing SatNaam simran – 7 to 8 hours a day.  Because the burden (of past karma – good and bad deeds), is carried on the soul.  So when the body goes to ashes, the soul plus the deeds attached to it, leave the body.  The good deeds (gunn - virtuous deeds) you did help you, the bad deeds are counted against you.  However, with Naam, you get out of the Karmic account of deeds.  When the Sant ignites you with the GurParsaad of Naam, then the Divine Judge – Dharam Raj, throws his head into his hands and says, ‘O no! another one whose accounts I have to rip up.”

We asked Baba ji, “in very simple terms, what is Naam?”  And Baba ji answered, “Naam is our Jyot (Divine Light/soul), and is already inside us.  The Divine Light is dimmed though, because of all the filth of our deeds that have burdened it.  So all the Sant does is ignites us, makes the Light brighter.  And focuses our mind away from worldy thoughts and back onto our Jyot by giving us the Bij Mantra (seed Mantra) of SatNaam.  Doing long hours of SatNaam simran cleans up all the Karmic filth that is clinging to the soul.  The Jyot becomes brighter and brighter, the karmic filth washes away, resulting in the mental and emotional sicknesses and negativity and desires washing away, followed by the physical body becoming healed and radiant too.  And that is the best way, the only true way to look after the mind and body.  By putting the soul first, not body and mind first.

So don’t’ say like those practioners do : ‘Mind, body and spirit,’ instead say , ‘soul, mind, body’ in the correct order.  Actually, these mind, body , spirit practioners are only focused on the mind and body and making money.  They never get to spirit.  What caan they do for your spirit anyway without the Supreme Souls’ grace?  Nothing. Making money they think about themselves instead of compassion.  Hence, they are actually making more bad deeds and more of a burden for their own soul.
